Default Iphone or Palm Pre will beat BB

I already bought a Palm pre, and I simply have an issue with apple even though I've never bought an apple product. Zune ftw!

Bust honestly think about it this way. You walk into the cellphone store (whichever carrier) and you say, "do you have the iphone?" they show you iphone. If you say "do you have the palm/ Palm Pre?" they show you a palm pre, and if you walk in and say "do you have blackberry?" they show you FIVE TO SEVEN different blackberries to choose from. I assume most people on this forum are techsavvy enough to know most of the differences between these phones without needing help, but the bulk of smart phone consumers are NOT tech savvy, and prefer the less difficult choice.

You can go with IPhone which is "its iphone... it does everything!"
You can go with Palm pre "its Palm pre... It does everything!"
You can go with Blackberry "its blackberry... this one does this, this one does this better, this one does this a different way, this one flips, this one you touch, this one multitasks, etc. etc."

1 of the three is gonna scare away the non tech savvy customers. Can you guess which one?

Blackberry can't say one phone does EVERYTHING because they have so many phones that do different things. the average consumer doesnt like difficult choices.

quite possibly, for now, but htc is coming out with some real speed demons soon, and has been gaining popularity like mad since the release of the magic and dream, htc is finding its way into peoples regular vocabulary :P. I am really proud of them for it, especially since I used to own the htc touch (vogue) on telus and they weren't too well known then, except by their serious fans. Although I started realizing they were getting popular when I would go to the bar and when getting a girls number she would comment "why is it EVERY guy has that phone!?" pointing at my htc. Had that happen a couple times, so I decided to go with the pre. I like most that it is hip, stylish, very functional and not as well known. I like the companies that fight hard to get where they are, always sticking up for the underdog lol. In black and white, I always choose the sheep as my familiar :P

I would have to say that if you how to use the pre it a VERY useful phone. If you are not "tech savvy" then it WILL take you a while to get used to it. Some of my friends are like ooh aah nice phone can I see it and I'm like sure whatever just don't break it. Then there like how do I get to the menu or whatever. I'm like its that little arrow right there and they're like ok. They just start opening random stuff and stuff like that. They could check to see if i was doing anything the next day in the calendar for their lives. For the "non tech savvy" I would recommend the iphone it has a more user friendly interface, everything is kinda right there but it is missing some features that the pre has but you would only think use them if you were "tech savvy" (or at least not that simple).

no actually that topic has been debated. I sell phones, and although, not yet the pre, I am friends with the people that do, and its actually really easy to sell to non-tech saavy people. Non-tech saavy people see all smart phones the same. They are all "hard to learn". but the pre is something that has to be taught, a LOT of the little things you can do with it gestures and such, have to be taught and dont get stumbled upon easily (cause thats all tech saavy people are, is good at stumbling on stuff, admit it) and the pre uses the same gestures for everything, so once taught very quickly, they will know how to operate all the phone features quite easily. it doesnt take long to learn either, it comes with a freakin' gesture guide. its tiny too.
